ABDELGHANY BREAKS SECOND #HLSD CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD IN DAY THREE

The men’s team sits in second while the women’s team sits in third

INDIANAPOLIS – In an intense day three of the Horizon League Swim and Dive Championships, Yassin Abdelghany broke his second championship record to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships in another event while the women's team also added four top three podiums.
 
Starting off the night was the 100 fly. Dani Stemper took seventh (56.40) while Mady Hill finished in eighth (56.93). Lydia Zenobi took 11th while Aubrey Hollis earned points at 14th.
 
On the men's side, Abdelghany broke the Championship record, once again after breaking it in prelims. He clocked an NCAA cut time of 45.23 to take the Horizon League title and secure his spot in at the NCAA Championships. Isaac Wilson took sixth with a time of 47.20 while Hugo Arteaga took eighth at 47.31.
 
In 400 IM, Addy Hirsbrunner earned fourth with a time of 4:25.53 while Chloe Yerkes took seventh with a time of 4:36.86. On the men's side Zach Drotar won the consolation finals with a time of 3:57.20. Carson Szotek took 11th.
 
Bella Tufts represented the Jags in the women's 200 free, finishing in sixth with a time of 1:51.66. On the men's side, Nathan Rariden earned a podium with a third place finish with a time of 1:36.06.
 
In the 100 breast, Luca McGee earned second place with a time of 1:03.30 while Victoria Surdyka followed in third at 1:03.42. On the men's side, Shane Tebeest took ninth at 54.21.
 
Aubrey Hollis then earned fourth in the 100 back with a time of 55.08 while Addy Hirsbrunner finished in seventh at 55.72. On the men's side. Grayson Tidwell earned a podium in third with a time of 47.18 while Jack Gallob finished in fifth at 47.69.
 
Next we turned to the diving boards for the women's 1-meter event. Alaina Heyde took second with a score of 275.50. Lindi Jenkins took sixth at 243.45 while Ariana Pagel earned seventh with a score of 229.90.
 
The Jags finished the night with the 400 medley relay. The women's team of Aubrey Hollis, Victoria Surdyka, Lydia Zenobi and Luca McGee took third with a time of 3:47.23. The men barely missed the gold, taking second. The relay team of Tidwell, Logan Kelly, Abdelghany and Rariden clocked a time of 3:07.07 for second place.
 
After day three of the championships, the men's team sits in second with 487.5 points while the women's team is currently in third with 393.5 points.
