ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indy Jaguars came up just short on the road Wednesday night, falling 64–61 to Oakland in a tightly contested Horizon League matchup that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes.
Ariana Williams led the Jags with 12 points off the bench.
IU Indy set the tone early, trading punches with Oakland in a back-and-forth opening period.

Ariana Williams knocked down early threes as the Jaguars briefly held the edge, but Oakland responded late to send the game tied at 15–15 after one.
The Jaguars found more offensive rhythm in the second, shooting 40 percent from the field while leaning on interior scoring and second-chance opportunities. A late three from
Jemma Amoore helped IU Indy build a five-point cushion, and the Jaguars carried a 29–26 lead into halftime.
The third quarter stayed tight as both teams struggled to create separation. IU Indy maintained a slim advantage despite Oakland outscoring the Jags 13-12 in the period, but the Jags held a 41–39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Oakland surged in the final frame, shooting 70 percent from the floor in the quarter. IU Indy answered with timely baskets from
Destini Craig and
Hailey Smith, and
Nevaeh Foster drilled a three with eight seconds remaining to pull the Jaguars within one. Oakland sealed the game at the free-throw line in the closing seconds to secure the 64–61 decision.
Williams led IU Indy with 12 points off the bench, adding two blocks and two steals.
Destini Craig chipped in 10 points while battling inside, and
Hailey Smith added nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Kamara Mills provided a spark with seven points and a three-pointer, while IU Indy's bench accounted for 34 of the team's 61 points
The Jags will now return to Indianapolis to host Robert Morris on Sunday, February 1 inside the Jungle.
