VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO WRIGHT STATE FOR #HLVB OPENING WEEKEND

The Jags face the Raiders in back-to-back days

DAYTON, Ohio – The IU Indy volleyball team travels to Dayton, Ohio to face the Wright State Raiders for the opening weekend of Horizon League play this weekend, Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 27. Friday night's match is set for 6:00 PM on ESPN+.
 
The Jags are coming off a 2-1 weekend with wins over Eastern Michigan and Butler while taking the first set from Purdue in the 3-1 loss. Junior Maia Long was named the Butler Invitational MVP while Grace Purichia and Morgan Ostrowski joined her on the All-Tournament Team. Freshman Jillian Tippmann led the Jags at Purdue with 17 kills.
 
Heading into Horizon League play, Tippmann leads the Jags on the attack averaging 3.73 kills per set while Ostrowski leads the team in blocks with 34.0. She is also close to hitting a career total of 300 blocks as she currently sits at 297. Purichia orchestrates the offense with an average of 10.20 assists per set while Laura Roeder leads the defense with 4.26 digs per set.
 
Wright State enters the weekend with a 6-5 record with their most recent win over Dayton. The Raiders finished 1-2 last weekend in the Dayton Flyer Invitational to close non-conference action with loses against Illinois State and UC Santa Barbara.
 
For the weekend, the Raiders were led offensively by Mya Ayro's 41 kills (4.10 kills/set) while getting 29 kills from Katie Sowko (2.90 kills/set). Lauren Yacobucci passed out a 9.50 assists per set and defensively the Raiders were paced by 29 digs from Taygan Corstange and 28 digs from Sowko.
 
IU Indy is set for a 6:00 PM first serve on Friday, Sept. 26 on ESPN+ followed by a 2:00 PM start on Saturday, Sept. 27.
