INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis men's soccer team continued its strong start to the season with a 1-0 road win at Butler on Monday night (Sept. 1). The victory was the first over the Bulldogs since 2011 and a first-ever road win over their crosstown opposition. Senior
Youri Keijser tallied the game-winner in the 18th minute and classmate
Cameron Maung-Maung authored a shutout on the strength of four individual saves and a pair of team saves.

Brady Horn and sophomore
Stan Klaver worked all 90 minutes in the defensive third while head coach
Sid van Druenen shuffled other bodies in and out to keep the sheet clean.
"It's not about who we beat. It's the first win of the season and hopefully more to come," van Druenen said. "Today is much more of the team who we have been until that (Louisville) game and one bad game is not going to change that."
Butler (1-3) finished with a 16-6 shot advantage and 7-1 edge in corner kicks, but the Jaguars came through with the only attempt that mattered.
The Jags went in front in the 18th minute on a composed strike from Keijer for his team-high second score of the year. Esquivel played Keijser into space on the left side and the Coker University-transfer angled a shot inside the far post for the night's first goal.
Freshman
Marcus Danh-Khoa Nguyen also earned an assist on the play, having originally sent a pass to Esquivel. Nguyen was the bulk of the team's offense in the opening half, including getting a couple chances on a drive on the right side in the 26th minute, the second of which was just wide of the near post.
In the 54th minute, the Jaguars dodged an array of bullets as an initial Butler corner kick resulted in Aiden Benitez blasting a shot off the crossbar. On the rebound, Maung-Maung made back-to-back reaction saves on attempts from Brendan Cunningham and Ryan Hannosh to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
Butler outshot the Jaguars 13-2 after intermission, sending numbers forward in search of an equalizer. However, IU Indy continually thwarted attempts, staving off the hosts for an emotional victory.
"It feels amazing. I think we've played Butler four or five times and we have yet to beat them," Horn said. "Last year, we held them nil-nil, but to come here at their place and get a 1-0 win and have a clean sheet is amazing - it's a great feeling.
"As a defender, to keep a shutout and a clean sheet just feels great, but keeping a clean sheet is the entire team. The whole team has to put effort to do it."
The Jaguars will cap a stretch of five straight road matches to start the season when they take on Southern Indiana on Saturday (Sept. 6) at 1:00 p.m. CT.
