ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indianapolis women's tennis team came up short against Horizon League opponent Oakland on Saturday, falling 5-2 on the road.
The Jaguars picked up the doubles point with strong performances at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The duo of
Chloe Bailey and
Grace Lampman took down Oakland's No. 2 partnership, 6-4, while
Hanan Awale and
Emma Dell edged out a 7-6 win in a tight match at No. 3 doubles. Oakland claimed the top doubles match, but IU Indy came away with the early 1-0 lead.
In singles play, the Golden Grizzlies responded by securing victories in five of six matches.
Calli Sokolowski notched the lone singles win for the Jaguars, earning a convincing 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot.
The Jaguars are now 2-8 on the season with an 0-2 mark in Horizon League play. IU Indy will next host Youngstown State on Saturday, April 12.
