CHICAGO – The IU Indy women's tennis team defeated the Chicago State Cougars, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon to earn their second straight Horizon League win.
IU Indy started off strong in doubles play.
Elle Kotre and
Calli Sokolowski blanked their opponents 6-0 at the No. 2 position, while
Emma Dell and
Hanan Awale secured a win by default at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring
Chloe Bailey and
Grace Lampman, was left unfinished.
The Jaguars wasted no time, winning five of six singles matches in straight sets and claiming the sixth by default. Dell led the way at the top singles spot, defeating Mackenzie King 6-2, 7-5 in a strong performance. Bailey followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2, while Kotre, Sokolowski, and Lampman each delivered 6-0, 6-0 victories at positions three through five. Awale earned the point at No. 6 by default.
With the win, the Jaguars close out the regular season with a 4-10 overall record. They will now prepare for the Horizon League Tournament on Friday, April 25.
