MEN’S TENNIS CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER COUGARS

The Jags finish out the regular season with a 10-12 record

CHICAGO – The IU Indy men's tennis team closed out its regular season in commanding fashion on Saturday, earning a 6-1 victory over Chicago State.

The partnership of Nate Day and Konner Gunwall earned a 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot, while Will Thurin and Steven Paz shut out their opponents 6-0 at No. 2. Eli Mercer and Pumiphat Sukkho added a third doubles win via default at the No. 3 spot, giving the Jags full control heading into singles.

In singles action, the Jaguars took five of the six matches. Thurin and Gunwall delivered dominate 6-0, 6-0 performances at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively, blanking their Cougar opponents. Mercer added a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-3. IU Indy also picked up default victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles due to an incomplete Chicago State lineup.
