WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IU Indy Jaguars were unable to break through offensively in Tuesday's non-conference road matchup, falling 3-0 to the Purdue Boilermakers at Bittinger Stadium.
Purdue struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Ashlynn Campbell laid down a bunt single to score Sage Scarmardo, giving the Boilermakers a 1-0 lead. The hosts added two more runs in the third on a sacrifice fly from Scarmardo and an RBI walk by Kylie Franks.
IU Indy managed three hits on the evening, with
Molly Kable collecting two of them with a single and a double.
Callie Dickerson added a double as well. Despite putting runners on base in several innings, the Jaguars were unable to capitalize, stranding six runners total.
The Jaguars' pitching staff combined to hold Purdue scoreless over the final three innings. Clara Pharis (5-7) took the loss after allowing one run in two innings.
Claire Stillwell, Dickerson and
Kaylen Garland provided solid relief, with Dickerson and Garland working a scoreless inning each.
IU Indy returns to conference play later this week as they host Oakland for a three-game series. The Golden Grizzlies will be in Indy for a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 PM and a single game on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Jags will also celebrate senior day on Saturday.
