INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indy men's tennis team delivered a strong performance at home on senior day, defeating Youngstown State 5-2 to notch their ninth win of the season.
The Jaguars came out firing in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to claim the opening point.
Nate Day and
Konner Gunwall clinched a tight 7-6 win at No. 1 doubles, while the duo of
Will Thurin and
Steven Paz secured a 6-4 victory on court three.
In singles action, IU Indy continued their momentum with four wins.
Kamil Kozerski got things started at the top spot with a convincing 6-4, 6-3 win over Youngstown State's Onder Balci.
Pumiphat Sukkho followed with a solid 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles and Thurin added another straight set win at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 7-6.
The match was clinched by
Eli Mercer in a three-set battle at No. 4 singles, defeating Mihai Haita 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
The win lifts IU Indy to 9-12 on the season. They close out the regular season at Chicago State on Saturday, April 19.
