CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The IU Indy men's tennis team defeated the Northern Kentucky Norse to earn their second #HLTennis victory of the season.
Eli Mercer,
Noah Viste,
Pumiphat Sukkho and
Konner Gunwall each provided singles points in the win.
The Jags took the doubles point to earn the early lead. Viste and
Kamil Kozerski earned the No. 2 doubles match, 6-3 while
Steven Paz and
Will Thurin secured the doubles point in the No. 3 spot, 6-2. The duo of Gunwall and
Nate Day were tied at 4-4 when the No. 1 doubles match went unfinished.
After and early 1-0 lead, the Jags secured the victory with four of the six singles points. Mercer earned the No. 3 singles point in a hard-fought three sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Viste earned the No. 4 win, 6-2, 7-6 while Sukkho won the No. 5 point and dropping the first set, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Gunwall gave the Jags their fifth point of the match in the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.
Kozerski dropped the No. 1 match, 6-3, 7-5 and Paz fell at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.
The IU Indy men's tennis team is now 2-2 in Horizon League play and are set for a rematch against the Norse on Saturday, April 5.
