The Jags defeated Chicago State 7-0 on Saturday afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy men's tennis team opened up Horizon League play on Saturday afternoon, defeating Chicago State, 7-0.

In doubles play, the Jaguars asserted their dominance early. However, IU Indy clinched the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. Noah Viste and Kamil Kozerski cruised to a 6-0 win over Logan Daily and Andrei-Rares Negrut, while Steven Paz and Will Thurin secured a win by forfeit at the No. 3 doubles spot.

Kamil Kozerski battled back after dropping the second set to defeat Chad Valdes in a thrilling super tiebreaker, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7, at the No. 1 singles position. Steven Paz delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Reed Gahagan at No. 2 singles, while Noah Viste dominated Andrei-Rares Negrut, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles. Eli Mercer blanked Logan Daily 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. The Jags also benefited from forfeits at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, with Nate Day and Pumiphat Sukkho claiming default victories.
