OLDSMAR, Fla. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team carded an opening round of 337 and is currently tied for 11th among the 15-team field at this week's Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational, being played at Ardea Country Club, just outside Tampa. A trio of Jaguars,
Yanah Rolston,
Reagan Sohn and
Sydni Zebrauskas, all carded rounds of 84 to pace the Jaguars after play was delayed by rain to start the day.
Zebrauskas opened her round with a birdie and was the lone Jaguar to have multiple birdies during the opening 18 holes. Both Rolston and sophomore
Nina Wojtczak accounted for the team's other two birdies, each doing so on the long par-5, No. 18.
Sohn had the team's most steady round of the day, making a team-high 10 pars, including three straight to start the day.
Freshman
Cassidy Ayres ended her day at 85 as the team's fourth countable score and Wojtczak shot 88. Senior
Nerea Lancho also carded a round of 88 while playing as an individual and freshman
Alexandra Chiew closed at 92.
Western Michigan leads the field at 310 and FDU is second at 312. FDU's Anete Adul is atop the leaderboard at even par 72 and Belmont's Chloe Tarkany is second at 1-over 73.
Play will resume with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday (Mar. 11).
