MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – The IU Indy women's basketball team fell short on the road at Milwaukee on Wednesday night, 77-70. Despite leading after each of the first three quarters, the Jaguars couldn't hold on in the final period as the Panthers' defense shut them down, outscoring IU Indy 23-14 in the fourth quarter.
The game opened with a tight battle, as the Jags took a 16-15 lead after the first quarter, shooting 42.9 percent from the field.
Faith Stinson paced the team with seven points in the opening frame. In the second quarter, IU Indy shot a blistering 77.8 percent, extending their lead to three points at halftime, capped by a clutch three-pointer from Stinson with just two seconds left on the clock.
After the break, the Jags maintained a slim lead, despite Milwaukee outscoring them 21-20 in the third quarter. Heading into the final period, IU Indy held a two-point advantage. However, the game turned in the fourth quarter when the Panthers' defense went on a run, holding IU Indy scoreless for over three minutes. Milwaukee capitalized on the dry spell, taking the lead and sealing the victory 77-70. The Jags' final points came from
Katie Davidson's field goal with just four seconds remaining.
Davidson led IU Indy with 24 points, while
Alexa Hocevar contributed 13 points and Stinson added 11.
The Jaguars will return to Indianapolis when they host Oakland on February 26.
