INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy women's tennis team defeated Huntington on Saturday afternoon, 6-1, to secure their first victory of the 2025 season.
The Jags sealed the doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead.
Elle Kotre and
Calli Sokolowski earned the No. 1 doubles win, 6-1 while
Chloe Bailey and
Grace Lampman secured the No. 2 doubles win, 6-2.
Hanan Awale and
Emma Dell helped sweep the doubles play with a No. 3 win, 6-2.
After sweeping the doubles play to earn the 1-0 lead, the Jags took five of the six singles points to secure the 6-1 win. Dell earned the No. 1 singles point, 6-2, 6-2 while Sokolowski took the No. 3 singles point, 6-2, 6-1. Kotre won in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-0 and Lampman took the No. 5 singles point, 6-1, 6-0. Awale rounded out the lineup in the sixth spot, taking the point, 6-0, 6-1.
Bailey was falling in the No. 2 spot, 5-4 in the first set when she retired, giving Huntington their sole point.
The Jags are now 1-3 and will next host Southern Indiana on February 22 at 3:00 PM.
