GREEN BAY, Wisc. – IU Indy saw its six-match win streak come to an end in a five-set battle at Green Bay on Saturday afternoon, as the Jaguars fell 3–2 despite a dominant start.
The Jaguars came out firing, taking control early behind strong serving from
Jordyn Pax, who delivered multiple aces during a 7–2 run.
Morgan Ostrowski and
Jillian Tippmann powered the offense at the net, while IU Indy's defense held the Phoenix to a .176 hitting percentage. The Jaguars took the opener 25–18.
IU Indy kept the momentum rolling with another efficient offensive display, hitting .357 as a team. Tippmann and
Ninah Miranda each tallied key kills, and
Elle Patterson's serving run extended the lead midway through the set. A final kill from
Maia Long sealed a 25–15 win and a 2–0 match advantage.
Green Bay battled back in a tightly contested third frame. Despite 14 kills from the Jaguars, a late Phoenix block turned the tide, and IU Indy couldn't overcome several late attack errors. The Phoenix held on to win 25–23.
Green Bay's offense found rhythm, hitting .314 in the fourth to even the match. IU Indy struggled to regain footing after an early deficit, with Miranda's back-row defense keeping the Jags within reach before falling 25–18. The decisive set was a nail-biter. Tippmann and Ostrowski kept IU Indy in striking distance, but Green Bay edged ahead late with a pair of key kills to win 16–14 and take the match 3–2.
Miranda led IU Indy with 15 kills and 22 digs, while Tippmann posted 16 kills and Ostrowski added nine on an efficient .533 hitting percentage. Setter
Grace Purichia recorded 43 assists and 12 digs, and Patterson chipped in 11 kills and 11 digs.
Laura Roeder anchored the back row with 23 digs.
The Jaguars (17–11, 11–5 Horizon) will close the regular season next weekend when they host Northern Kentucky.
