WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IU Indianapolis swim and dive teams turned in a strong all-around performance at the 2025 Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiates on Saturday, with the men finishing second overall with 500 points and the women taking third with 252.5 points at Purdue's Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
On the men's side, the Jaguars were just edged out by Purdue (518) in a close team battle. IU Indy dominated the diving events as
Sebastian Otero scored 381.55 points to finish second on the 3-meter board, then scored 352.10 to take second in the 1-meter. Senior
Blake Vanderjeugdt also contributed valuable points, placing eighth on the 3-meter (280.40) while
Evan Butcher took eight on the 1-meter (280.55).
In the pool, IU Indy's speed was on full display.
Logan Kelly took the top time in the 100 breast with a time of 53.21 then took second in the 100 fly (48.81),
Noah Van Zuidam finished third in the 100 fly at 48.81.
Nathan Rariden claimed second in the men's 200 freestyle with a 1:38.59.
David Niemiec sprinted to third in the 50 free (20.83), while Shane Tebeest followed in fourth in the 50 free at 20.99.
In the 100 IM,
Isaac Wilson (51.42) and
Grayson Tidwell (51.44) placed fourth and fifth to cap off a solid mid-meet surge.
For the women, IU Indy finished third behind Ball State (584.5) and Purdue (583). The Jaguars' divers led the way —
Arianna Pagel took fifth in the 3-meter (225.65) while
Lindi Jenkins took seventh (220.55).
Midori Adams recorded a top ten finish in the 1-meter with an eighth place finish at 220.45 points.
In the pool,
Victoria Surdyka earned fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.15).
Bella Tufts recorded two top-ten finishes with a sixth place finish in the 200 free and seventh in the 100 free.
Overall, IU Indianapolis showcased its depth and balance against top in-state programs, building momentum early in the season as both teams eye continued success in upcoming meets. The Jags will return to Indianapolis to host Evansville, Southern Indiana and Valparaiso next weekend on Saturday, Oct. 18.
