INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy women's tennis team fell to the Eastern Illinois Panthers on Friday night, 4-3. The Jags earned the doubles point but couldn't close out the match in singles play.
 
IU Indy took a quick 1-0 lead with the doubles point. Grace Lampman and Chloe Bailey took the No. 2 doubles match at 6-2 while Emma Dell and Hanan Awale secured the point at No. 3 doubles, 7-6.
 
After earning the doubles point, the Jags couldn't finish it out in singles play, dropping four of the six singles points. Calli Sokolowski earned the No. 4 singles point, 6-1, 6-2 while Awale took the No. 6 singles point, 6-4, 6-3 to keep the Jags in the match. It wasn't enough as the Jags fell in the other four singles matches.
 
Bailey dropped the No. 1 singles point, 6-4, 6-2 while Dell dropped the No. 2 singles point in a hard fought three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Elle Kotre fell in the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-0 and Lampman lost in the No. 5 spot, 7-6, 1-6, 6-4.
 
The IU Indy women's tennis team is now 0-2 on the season and will next host Colorado tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2:00 PM.
