YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The IUPUI men's tennis team dropped Sunday's road match at Youngstown State, 6-1. The Jags took the doubles point to kick off the match but couldn't finish it out in singles play.
IUPUI took the doubles point to start off the match with an early 1-0 lead.
Emil Jankowski and
Kamil Kozerski earned the number one doubles win, 6-4.
Will Thurin and
Noah Viste dropped the number doubles match, 6-2 but
Steven Paz and
Luka Rodic clinched the doubles point with a number two doubles win, 6-4.
After doubles play, the Jags couldn't get momentum going in singles play, falling, 6-1. Kozerski dropped the number one match, 6-3, 6-3. Paz fell in the number two spot, 6-3, 6-4, and Viste lost the number three match, 7-5, 6-0. Rodic fell in the number four singles match, 7-5, 6-0, and
Eli Mercer dropped the number five match in a hard-fought three sets, 5-7, 6-1, 10-5.
Nate Day also sent his number six singles match into three sets but ultimately fell, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6.
The men's tennis team will now return to Indy to close out the regular season. The Jags host Chicago State on Saturday, April 20 at 4:00 PM.
