INDIANAPOLIS – With the match tied at 3-3, senior
Emil Jankowski earned the number six singles point to clinch the match victory over Chicago State on senior day. Fellow senior
Luka Rodic was also celebrated at today's match.
IUPUI jumped out to an early lead, taking the doubles point.
Will Thurin and
Noah Viste earned the number three doubles win, 6-3 followed by the partnership of
Kamil Kozerski and Jankowski clinching the point in the number one spot, 6-3.
Steven Paz and Luke Rodic were up 5-3 in the number two doubles match when the Jags took the point.
After taking the 1-0 lead, the Jags moved into singles, earning a quick two points in singles play. Senior Rodic quickly took the number four singles match, 6-3, 6-1 followed by Paz earning the number two singles point, 6-2, 6-0. Chicago State tied the match at 3-3 with the number one, two and five singles points.
Kozerski fell in the number one spot, 7-5, 6-0 then
Noah Viste fell in the number three spot in a hard-fought three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.
Eli Mercer dropped the number five singles match, 7-6, 6-3.
With the match on the line, Jankowski finished his career with the Jaguars on a high note, clinching the match victory. He took the number six singles match in two sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The IUPUI men's tennis team concluded the 2023-24 with a 9-16 overall record and a 3-5 mark in Horizon League play.
