MUNCIE, Ind. – The IU Indy Jaguars couldn't overcome a strong Ball State offense, dropping their second game of the season by a final score of 89-63 in Muncie, Indiana on Friday night.
Ball State came out strong, jumping to a 19-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. Their offensive efficiency continued in the second frame as they extended the advantage to 47-26 at the half. Despite a strong effort in the third quarter, the Jaguars couldn't close the gap, as the Cardinals held a 66-46 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Jaguars rallied in the third, recording their best quarter of the night with 20 points, including four three-pointers, but Ball State answered with balanced scoring to maintain control. In the fourth, the Cardinals outpaced the Jaguars 23-17, closing out the game with a commanding 89-63 victory.
Turnovers proved costly for the Jaguars, as they coughed up the ball 26 times, compared to just 13 turnovers by Ball State. The Cardinals capitalized on IU Indy's miscues, scoring 25 points off turnovers, which proved to be a decisive factor.
Jada Patton led the Jaguars with 14 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-9 from the floor.
Logan Lewis added 11 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 mark from beyond the arc.
Alexa Hocevar contributed with six rebounds.
The Jaguars will look to bounce back as they move to 1-1 on the season. They will next travel to West Lafayette to face the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday, November 14.
