IU INDY SWEEPS NORSE IN THRILLING VICTORY

Jaguars seal 3-0 win, led by Elle Patterson’s 19 kills

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The IU Indy Jaguars capped off a thrilling Friday night with a 3-0 sweep over the Northern Kentucky Norse in Highland Heights. The win sets the stage for a pivotal rematch on Saturday.

The match opened with an exciting first set that went to extra points, with IU Indy edging out the Norse 33-31. The set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading leads multiple times. Northern Kentucky had a set point at 24-23, but a service error handed the serve back to the Jags, who seized the opportunity.

Sophomore Addie Evans delivered a clutch ace, giving IU Indy a one-point lead at 25-24. The teams continued to trade points until the Jags went on a three-point run to close out the set, with back-to-back-to-back kills from Elle Patterson, Kate White, and Morgan Ostrowski sealing the set.

Set two saw more of the same competitive play, with both teams neck-and-neck throughout. IU Indy eventually edged out Northern Kentucky 26-24 in another extra-point set. Elle Patterson, who had already been a major contributor, capped the set with a decisive kill, putting the Jags up 2-0 in the match.

In the third and final set, the Jaguars took control early, establishing a solid 24-16 lead. However, NKU made a late push with a four-point run to make it 24-20 and briefly threatened a comeback. Patterson, though, put an end to those hopes with another clutch kill, giving the Jags a 25-20 win and a sweep of the match.

Patterson lead IU Indy with 19 kills, while fellow attacker Maia Long added nine kills and Ostrowski finished with seven. Setter Grace Purichia was instrumental in the Jags' success, contributing 39 assists, a team-high 16 digs, and three service aces. Carly Doros provided a solid defensive presence, adding 4 blocks to the team's total.

With the win, the Jags will look to finish the regular season as they prepare to face Northern Kentucky again on Saturday at 2:00 PM, with a spot in the Horizon League tournament on the line.
