MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – The IU Indy hitting struggled as the Jaguars volleyball team fell to Milwaukee in straight sets on Friday night, 3-0. Junior
Jordyn Pax led all players in digs with 13 while
Sidney Veatch added a team-high three assists.
The Jags hit just .075 over the three sets while the Panthers hit .330 to seal the win.
In the opening set,
Kate White started the match off with a kill to give the Jags a 1-0 lead. IU Indy added a kill from
Maia Long to hold onto the lead until Milwaukee tied the match at 3-3. The Panthers held that lead for the remainder of the set, taking the first set, 25-17.
IU Indy once again took the lead first in the second set with back-to-back kills to open the set.
Carly Doros and
Elle Patterson recorded the kills to give the Jags a 2-0 lead. Milwaukee quickly tied the match and took the lead with a a 4-0 run. After a kill from
Ava Harris cut the lead to 4-3, the Panthers went on another run, this time a 6-0 run, to extend their lead to 10-3. Milwaukee closed out the set at 25-14 to take the 2-0 match lead.
In a must-win set, the Jags took the lead at 6-5 after back-to-back kills from Patterson and two service aces from Veatch. Milwaukee then went on a 5-1 run to take the lead from the Jags at 10-7. The Panthers sealed the set on a five point run, 25-18.
Long and Patterson each collected seven kills while Doros and Harris added six. Pax kept the Jags in the match with 13 digs while
Grace Purichia added eight digs.
IU Indy will have their chance at a rematch tomorrow afternoon. The Jags and Panthers are set for a 3:00 PM first serve.
