MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The IUPUI basketball team fell victim to a hot shooting Robert Morris squad on Thursday night (Jan. 4) as the host Colonials shot 61 percent from the field in a resounding 92-48 win. RMU connected on 9-of-24 from three-point range and feasted on 18 IUPUI turnovers in the victory.
Sophomores
Vincent Brady II and
DJ Jackson led IUPUI (5-11, 1-4 HL) with 12 points each in the loss while Josh Corbin led seven RMU (5-11, 1-4 HL) players in double-figures with 15 points, including three threes. Markese Hastings added 14 points and eight rebounds.
IUPUI built a quick 6-2 lead to start, including a Brady four-point play, before RMU ripped off a 16-2 run and never looked back. The Colonials built an easy 44-24 halftime lead, shooting 63.3 percent in the opening half.
RMU proceeded to outscore the Jaguars 15-4 to start the second half, turning the remainder of the night largely into garbage time.
Brady grabbed a team-high six rebounds and drew six fouls, connecting on all five of his free throw attempts. Jackson added five boards and
Kidtrell Blocker had a team-high three steals off the bench.
RMU won the glass by a resounding 39-22 margin and outscored the Jaguars 50-22 in the paint.
IUPUI will close out the two-game road trip at Youngstown State on Sunday (Jan. 7) at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
