BRADY, COUNTER LEAD JAGUARS IN HOME LOSS TO GREEN BAY

Vincent Brady scores a team-high 15 points in the loss

INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore Vincent Brady II scored 15 points and junior Jlynn Counter added 13 but the Jaguars came up short at home against Green Bay on Wednesday (Jan. 10), 68-58. David Douglas Jr. led all players with 26 points, including six threes, and Noah Reynolds added 19 points and six assists for the victors.

Green Bay (10-8, 5-2 HL) shot 51.2 percent from the field and connected on 10-of-23 attempts (43.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Conversely, IUPUI finished at 45.1 percent for the game and just 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) from deep.

IUPUI (5-13, 1-6 HL) raced out to a hot start, building a 22-10 lead midway through the first half as Qwanzi Samuels capped a 6-0 run with back-to-back baskets. The Jaguars' offense got stuck on 24 points as Green Bay rattled off 11 straight to tie the score at 24 all on an Elijah Jones putback at the 5:57 mark. While IUPUI rarely trailed in the first half, it had to settle for a 29 all stalemate at the break.

Green Bay opened the second half by outscoring IUPUI 14-6 to build an eight-point lead. The lead grew to double-digits with 10:23 to play and the visiting Phoenix kept the Jaguars at arms length the remainder of the day.

Brady hit 5-of-10 shots and was one of three Jaguars to collect two steals in a season-high 39 minutes of work. Counter added four assists and three rebounds to the cause and Samuels finished with eight points and six caroms. Jones had a double-double off the Green Bay bench with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

On the heels of a 28-turnover performance at Youngstown State, IUPUI committed just 10 miscues on Wednesday while forcing 14 Green Bay turnovers. The Jaguars converted the turnover margin into a 20-10 advantage in points off turnovers. IUPUI also outscored Green Bay in the paint, 28-18, despite being outrebounded 27-22.

IUPUI will close out the two-game homestand on Saturday (Jan. 13) when the Jaguars host Oakland University at 2:00 p.m. inside Indiana Farmers Coliseum. That game will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Greg Rakestraw (pxp) and Hall of Famer Bob Lovell (analyst) describe the action. The first 75 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary IUPUI pint glass for their attendance.
