INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI swimmer Nick Dibley becomes the first student-athlete in IUPUI history to earn the Horizon League Post-Graduate Scholarship as announced by the League office today.

The Horizon League names one male and one female student-athlete each year for the award. To be eligible for the scholarship, student-athletes must meet criteria in four distinct categories — academics, athletics, service and leadership. The recipient must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent, have competed with distinction as a member of a varsity sport, exhibited quality time working in the community/university in providing service to others, and demonstrated leadership qualities as a student at their institution and as a member of their intercollegiate program.

"I am extremely grateful to have been chosen for this year's scholarship. Being IUPUI's first ever recipient means a lot to me and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of the Swim and Dive program here. It's only through being a part of the amazing culture we have created here that I was able to accomplish what I did this year. This scholarship is a huge help as I start the next chapter of my life and continue my Master's degree at IUPUI. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!"

The native of Middlebury, Indiana has been a four-year member of the IUPUI swim program where he has helped build a championship culture, leading the Jaguars to a second place finish at the 2023 Horizon League Championships. He scored 32 points with two podium placings. Dibley finished second in the 400 IM, third in the 200 fly and seventh in the 500 free.

Dibley has shown excellence in the pool and in the classroom, earning his bachelor's degree in biomedical informatics with a minor in 3D graphics and animation while maintaining a 3.98 GPA. The senior was named among IUPUI's Top 100 students in back-to-back years while also being named to the #HLSD All-Academic Team. He was also named the 2022 Michael A Carroll Scholarship recipient which is given annually to an individual entering their final year of competition and represents IUPUI's best of the best.

Dibley led his fellow athletes as he served as the president of the IUPUI Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years and served as secretary on the Horizon League SAAC.

With this scholarship, Dibley plans to stay at IUPUI to finish his master's degree.
