INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team earned the doubles point but couldn't capitalize in singles play as they fell to Oakland, 5-2.
Meghan Bernard earned the number two singles point for the Jags as well.
IUPUI took an early lead with the doubles point. Bernard and
Samantha Hayward won in the number one spot, 7-5 and
Sarah Lounsbury and
Makenzie Myers sealed the point in the number three spot, 6-3.
Emma Dell and
Marta Krakowski lost at number two doubles, 6-4.
Bernard earned the sole point for the Jags in singles play with a two set victory in the number two spot, 6-2, 6-1. Myers fell in the number one spot, 6-1, 6-1 while Hayward lost at number three singles, 6-4, 6-0. Dell lost in the number four spot, 6-3, 7-5 and
Grace Lampman fell in the number five spot, 6-3, 6-4. Lounsbury rounded out the lineup in the number six spot where she fell, 6-1, 6-4.
The Jags are now 8-11 overall and 0-2 in conference. They return to Indy when they start a four-match homestand hosting UIndy on Wednesday, April 12.
