INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department announced its 2023 Hall of Fame Class on Thursday (Mar. 30), naming six individuals among the most recent inductees. Five former student-athletes - Kaitlyn Hickey (volleyball), Alexus Laird (swimming), Robert Murphy (cross country / track), Jose Pablo Segurola (golf) and Alex Young (basketball) - and longtime Director of Athletics Michael Moore constituted this year's induction class.

All six will be recognized at this year's IUPUI Hall of Fame Dinner at the NCAA Headquarters on Saturday, May 20.

Kaitlyn Hickey (2012-16) was a two-time honorable mention All-American for the volleyball program and was The Summit League Player of the Year her senior season. She became the first player in Summit League history to amass over 1,500 kills and 1,500 digs in her collegiate career, closing her career as the program's all-time leader in kills (1,665) and fourth in career digs (1,592). She was one of 30 national finalists for the Senior CLASS Award her final season and was a four-time All-Summit League honoree and two-time AVCA All-North Region pick.

Alexus Laird (2011-15) was a four-time All-Summit League performer in the water for the Jaguars, excelling in the 50 free and 100 and 200 backstroke. She became the first swimmer in IUPUI history to earn an NCAA 'B' cut time when she swam 54.82 in the 100 back her junior year. She was also the first IUPUI swimmer to go under two-minutes in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.90. She later competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio for the Seychelles as one of just 10 Olympians from the country and was the country's 2016 Female Athlete of the Year.

Michael Moore served as IUPUI's Director of Athletics for 19 years before stepping down in August 2015. He navigated IUPUI's move to the NCAA Division I level and doubled the sports offerings from nine programs to the present day 18 sports. He also oversaw the program's branding change from Metros to Jaguars and IUPUI's entrance into The Summit League in 1998. Eight different IUPUI sports won conference titles during Moore's tenure and the department also boasted a pair of individual NCAA champions in women's diving. Moore made the landmark decision to move IUPUI basketball games to Indiana Farmers Coliseum, resulting in the nation's 30th largest increase in home attendance during the 2014-15 season. Academically, IUPUI student-athletes registered 13 straight semesters with a departmental grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Robert Murphy (2015-17) spent just two seasons in an IUPUI uniform as a junior college transfer, but made a major impact in a short amount of time. He became the program's first-ever NCAA National qualifier in outdoor track, doing so in the 3,000m steeplechase before later being named an honorable mention All-American. He was a six-time All-Summit Leaguer in cross country and track, including winning the individual cross country title his senior year. His junior season he was league champion in the mile and 3K during the indoor season and 1,500m and 3K steeple during outdoor season. He followed up as the league runner-up in the 3K his senior year and then repeating as steeple champion.

Jose Pablo Segurola (2010-15) finished his career as IUPUI's all-time leader in rounds played (131) and sixth in career scoring average (75.42) in his standout career. He was the 2015 Summit League Championship MVP to earn an NCAA Tournament berth and was also named the league's Scholar Athlete of the Year. He collected three tournament wins in his collegiate career, including the win at the 2015 Summit League Championships. He was part of a Summit League Championship team in 2012 and runner-up finisher in 2014.

Alex Young (2008-12) finished his career ranked third in IUPUI and fourth in Summit League history with 2,286 points. He was a two-time NABC First Team All-District 12 honoree and was voted First Team All-Summit League in each of his final three seasons. He averaged double-digits each year of his four-year career, including a 20.4 points per game average his senior year. He closed his career with a 17.5 points per game scoring average and scored in double-figures 111 times in 131 career games. He scored 20-or-more 51 times and also ranked among IUPUI's all-time leaders in rebounds, steals and blocked shots.
