INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's tennis team earned their first conference win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Chicago State. Four Jags earned singles wins to help push IUPUI over Chicago State.
IUPUI lost the doubles point to begin the match and fall behind 1-0.
Blessing Benibo and
Colton Morehart continue their success in doubles play winning the number two match, 6-2.
Alex Jochim and
Tom Ciszewski fell at the number one spot, 6-4 while Nick Moody and
Kamil Kozerski fell in the number three spot, 6-4.
Trailing 1-0 heading into singles play, the Jags won four out of six matches to seal the win over Chicago State. Kozerski earned the number three singles win, 6-3, 6-3 and Morehart won the number four singles match, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman
Eli Mercer won at number five singles, 6-2, 6-0 while
Noah Viste took the win in the number six spot, 6-2, 6-2.
Chicago State kept it close with wins in the number one and two spots. Jochim fell in the number one spot, 7-6 (4), 7-5 while Ciszewski fell at the number two spot, 6-3, 6-3.
With the win, IUPUI improves to 5-14 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Jags will next travel to Cleveland State to continue Horizon League play on Saturday, March 25 with a first serve at 2:00 PM.
