BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The IUPUI softball team closed out the Bulldog Classic at Samford with a loss to North Alabama on Sunday afternoon, 4-0. The Jaguars left Alabama with a 1-3 record at the Bulldog Classic moving their overall record to 2-10.
North Alabama took the lead in the second inning with four runs on four hits. Mckenzie Patterson scored the first two runs for the Lions with a double to center field. Ryleigh Boyett followed with a single to score Patterson and Sidney Bevis fouled out to right field for a sacrifice fly scoring Boyett.
IUPUI couldn't push a run across, falling to North Alabama, 4-0.
Morgan Gilbert recorded a hit and a stolen base while
Rachael Gregory, Kelli Pfieffer,
Jordan Jenkins and
Jaida Speth all recorded hits in the loss as well.
Freshman
Alexa Holman took the loss falling to 1-3 on the season giving up four runs on five hits in two innings.
Isabelle Waggner entered in the third inning and threw four scoreless frames for the Jags.
The Jags will next travel to Bloomington, Indiana when they compete in the Hoosier Classic this weekend March 3 (Friday) through March 5 (Sunday). IUPUI will face Wisconsin, Green Bay and Indiana during the weekend.
