INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team fell to Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon, 7-0. Mackenzie Myers and
Sarah Lounsbury won the number three doubles match but the Jags were unable to take the other matches.
Western Michigan took the early lead with the doubles point. Lounsbury and Myers kept the Jags in the fight with a 6-4 number three doubles win but the Western Michigan took the other two matches to earn the point.
Samantha Hayward and
Meghan Bernard fell in the number one spot, 6-3 and the partnership of
Emma Dell and
Grace Lampman fell in a tough battle in the number two spot, 7-6(5).
After doubles play the Jags fell in all six of the singles matches. Myers fell in the number one spot, 6-1, 6-0 while Bernard lost in the number two spot, 6-3, 6-4. Hayward fell at number three singles, 6-2, 6-2 while freshman Dell lost in the number four spot, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Lampman lost, 6-2, 6-1 in the number five spot and Lounsbury fell in the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-3.
IUPUI will continue their home stretch when they host Eastern Illinois next weekend on Sunday, March 5 with first serve at 6:00 PM.
