INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team fell to Eastern Illinois on Sunday night, 6-1.
Sarah Lounsbury recorded the sole point for the Jags in the number six singles spot.
Eastern Illinois took the early lead with the doubles point securing wins at the number one and number two spot. The partnership of Lounsbury and Mackenzie Myers kept the Jags in the fight with a number three doubles win, 6-1.
Meghan Bernard and
Samantha Hayward lost in the top spot, 6-4 while
Emma Dell and
Grace Lampman lost at number two doubles, 6-4.
After dropping the doubles point the Jags turned to singles play where IUPUI fell in five out of the six matches. Lounsbury won in the six singles spot in two sets, 6-1, 6-4. Myers fell at number one singles, 7-5, 7-6 while Bernard fell at number two singles, 7-5, 6-4. Hayward lost at number three singles in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 while Dell lost in the four spot, 6-3, 6-4. Lampman rounded out the lineup at number five singles where she fell, 6-1, 6-3.
The Jags will continue their home stretch when they host Southern Indiana on Tuesday, March 7 for a 1:30 PM first serve at West Indy.
