INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team fell to Western Kentucky on Sunday morning, 6-1.
Meghan Bernard recorded her third straight singles win to go undefeated on the weekend and give the Jags their sole point in today's match.
Western Kentucky took the early lead winning the doubles point. Bernard and
Samantha Hayward won the number one doubles match, 6-3 but it wasn't enough as the Jags lost in the number two and three spots.
Emma Dell and
Grace Lampman lost at number two doubles, 6-1 while Mackenzie Myers and
Sarah Lounsbury lost in the number three spot, 6-4.
After dropping the doubles point, the Jags fell in five out of the six singles matches. Bernard earned the number two singles point in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. Myers lost in the number one spot, 6-0, 6-1 while Hayward lost at number three singles, 6-4, 6-3. Dell lost at the number four singles in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5. Lampman lost in the fifth spot, 6-3, 6-3 while Lounsbury lost in two sets in the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-1.
IUPUI is now 2-6 on the season and will continue their seven-match home stretch when they host Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 25 with first serve of doubles play at 6:00 PM.
