INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI volleyball team recorded their first Horizon League victory when they defeated the Robert Morris Colonials in dominate fashion in three sets, 3-0. Junior
Briana Brown led the Jaguar attack with 11 kills while
Grace Purichia set the Jags up for success with 31 assists.
In the opening set, the Jags and Colonials were evenly matched with the game tied at 16-16 before the Jags went on a 5-1 run. IUPUI had set point but Robert Morris wouldn't go away taking three straight points before
Emily Alan sealed the set win at 25-22. The Jags outhit the Colonials 15 kills to seven.
With a little bit of momentum, the Jags defeated the Colonials in the second set, 25-18. Freshman
Ava Harris closed the door on the second set with back-to-back kills. IUPUI kept that momentum in the third set, recording their highest hitting percentage of the match with a .424 mark to earn the 25-14 set three victory. With the third set victory the Jags sealed the 3-0 match win.
Brown led the way with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .346 while Alan recorded a team-high hitting percentage of .421, totaling 10 kills. Freshman Purichia totaled a team-high 31 assists with seven digs while libero
Addie Evans collected 16 digs and two service aces.
The Jags are now 7-10 overall and 1-5 in Horizon League play. IUPUI hosts Youngstown State tomorrow, October 7 with first serve set for 4:00 PM.
