INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI volleyball team fell to the Milwaukee Panthers in four sets, 3-1. The Jags won the first set but couldn't keep the momentum as they fell in the last three sets. Junior
Briana Brown led the Jaguar attack with 10 kills.
The Panthers took the early lead in the opening set but the Jags quickly earned control at 6-6 all. Kills by Brown and
Emily Alan led the way while attack errors from Milwaukee allowed for the Jags to take the lead. IUPUI sealed the first set win at 25-18.
Milwaukee earned the first four points to force an IUPUI timeout to start the second set. IUPUI hit just .121 in the second set while the Panthers hit .267 to earn the second set victory, 25-17. In the third set the Jags were outhit .152 to Milwaukee's .375 to fall two sets to one, 25-17.
With the match on the line, the Jags couldn't gain control in the fourth and final set. Although the Jags improved their attack, hitting .200 with 14 kills, the Panthers serve proved too strong for IUPUI with three aces to win the set, 25-21.
Brown led the attack with ten kills while
Maia Long and
Morgan Ostrowski each added nine.
Grace Purichia led in assists with 42 while also collecting ten digs.
Brynn Zastrow and
Addie Evans also added ten digs.
The Jags are now 8-14 overall and 2-9 in Horizon League play. The travel to Cleveland State on Tuesday, October 24 for a 6:00 PM first serve.
