BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The IUPUI men's tennis team traveled to Illinois State on Sunday, falling to the RedBirds, 5-2. The Jags earned the doubles point to earn the first point then
Colton Morehart secured the second point in singles play.
IUPUI kicked off the meet winning the doubles point with wins at number one doubles and number two doubles.
Alex Jochim and Morehart won the number one doubles match with a score of 6-4 and the partnership of
Tom Ciszewski and
Kamil Kozerski won the number two doubles match, 6-3. Nick Moody and
Will Thurin were winning their number three doubles match, 5-4, when it went unfinished.
The Jags only won one singles match but they fought hard. Morehart won his number four match, 6-2, 7-5. Ciszewski took his number three singles match to three sets after falling behind losing the first set but ultimately couldn't hold on losing, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Kozerski kept both of his sets close but again couldn't pull it out losing at number two singles, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
Jochim lost at number one singles, 7-5, 6-4 while
Eli Mercer fell at number five singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Thurin fell at number six singles, 6-4, 6-3.
IUPUI will now travel to Purdue on Saturday, January 28 with a first serve against the Boilermakers at 11:00 AM.
