Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ky. – The IUPUI volleyball team opened the regular season today with the first day of the Colonel Classic. The Jags fell to host team Eastern Kentucky in straight sets, 3-0, then dropped the second match of the day in a hard-fought battle to UT-Martin, 3-2.
 
In the first match of the day the Jags fell in straight sets, 25-29, 25-13, 25-19. Allie Pogue and Briana Brown led the attack for IUPUI with six kills each. Sidney Veatch added in 15 assists with two kills while Brooke Phillips recorded seven assists and three service aces. Libero, Addie Evans collected 16 digs while Emma Ashcraft and Phillips added in seven.
 
Service errors proved costly as the Jags recorded five errors while the Colonels only recorded two.
 
In match two, IUPUI faced UT-Martin. The Jags went the distance but lost in five sets, 26-24, 25-27, 22-25, 25-17, 16-14. After dropping set one, the Jags won the second and third set to take the 2-1 lead, but they couldn't hold on as UT-Martin took the fourth and fifth sets.
 
IUPUI recorded a total of 53 kills in the match with 13 coming from Millai Madison and 12 from Brown, Emily Alan also added 10 kills. Service errors proved costly again as the Jags committed 13 service errors.
 
Veatch collected a total of 43 assists with 10 digs, five kills, and two aces. Phillips earned three more service aces while Ashcraft earned two aces and Evans collected 24 digs.
 
The Jags are now 0-2 on the season and will play one more match in the Colonel Classic tomorrow at 11:00 AM when they face Radford.
