INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department announced its 2022 women's soccer schedule on Wednesday (June 8), highlighted by nine home matches at the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Head coach
Chris Johnson's team will take on three teams from the 2021 Women's Soccer College Cup with an exhibition contest with Butler and regular season tilts with Milwaukee and SIUE.
The Jaguars' non-conference schedule will include road games at Tennessee Tech (Aug. 18), SIUE (Aug. 21), Belmont (Sept. 2) and Southern Indiana (Sept. 5).
The home non-conference games include meetings with Bellarmine (Aug. 25), Western Illinois (Aug. 28), Murray State (Sept. 8) and Evansville (Sept. 11). Horizon League play will begin against Cleveland State on Sept. 15 and the Jags will face reigning champion Milwaukee on Oct. 6. IUPUI's final home game of the season will be against Robert Morris on Oct. 16 and the regular season will conclude at Youngstown State on Oct. 22.
The Horizon League Tournament will open at campus sites on Oct. 30, followed by the semifinals (Nov. 5) and championship (Nov. 7) at the site of the tournament's top seed.
Johnson's team returns eight starters from last season in
Makenna Collins (15 starts),
Maya Lacognato (3 goals, 3 assists),
Grace Moore (14 starts),
Abbie Schad (14 starts),
Leah Shumate (1 goal, 2 assists),
Alex Stocker (8 starts),
Maya Turner (1 assist) and
Paige Waskom (1 assist). Lacognato was second on the team in scoring last season with nine points and led the squad with 17 starts and two game-winners. In goal, sophomore
Ashton Kudlo takes over as the starter, having made two starts last season with a 1-1 record and a 0.49 goals against average.
The team returns 40 percent of its goals and 73 percent of the team's assists from last season.
