INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department officially introduced
Kate Bruce as the tenth head coach in the history of the women's basketball program to the campus community on Thursday night (May 19). Bruce joins the department from Walsh University where she was the program's all-time winningest head coach and guided the Cavaliers to four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.
Bruce was joined by her husband, Jesse, as she was introduced by interim Chancellor Andrew Klein and Director of Athletics
Dr. Roderick Perry.
She takes over an IUPUI program that went 24-5 this season and advanced to its first-ever NCAA Tournament before falling on the road at No. 4 Oklahoma in the opening round. The Jaguars also boasted a road win at nationally ranked Iowa and lost at Michigan in the season opener. Bruce is no stranger to winning as she went 134-43 in six seasons at Walsh, winning better than 75 percent of her games.
