INDIANAPOLIS - Seniors
Eric Hoffman and
Macee Williams claimed top honors as the IUPUI Athletics Department hosted the 2022 Jag Awards inside the Campus Center on Monday night (May 1). Hoffman and Williams were honored with the department's Melvyn Garland Distinguished Student-Athlete Awards - the highest single honor given to an IUPUI male and female student-athlete.
The duo of
Matthew Baxter (men's golf) and
Quinn McCallion (men's soccer) earned the Jaguars Athletics Fund Academic Achievement Awards while
Sabrina Elder (women's cross country / track),
Amber Pagan (softball) and
Jaida Speth (softball) earned the Dorothy Cheesman Awards for the top female grade point averages among the senior class.
Monday marked the first time IUPUI had hosted the awards in person since Spring 2019.
Williams, a four-time #HLWBB Player of the Year, finished her college career as IUPUI's all-time leader in points (2,355) and rebounds (1,291) and guided the Jaguars to a pair of league titles. She finished her career with 57 double-doubles and 935 field goals made, ranking among the most efficient players in all of college basketball throughout her career. Hoffman has been brilliant in both cross country and track for the Jaguars, including setting the school records in the 5,000m event in both indoor and outdoor track. He was the Horizon League Championships Top Performer in the 2020 Indoor season after winning league titles in both the 3,000 and 5,000m events. In cross country, he's helped IUPUI to three consecutive #HLXC titles and a consistent Great Lakes Regional ranking.
Baxter and McCallion shared the Jaguars Athletics Fund Academic Achievement Awards as both will graduate with 3.97 grade point averages while Pagan had the top GPA among the women's graduates at 3.99. Both Elder and Speth are on pace to finish at 3.98.
