INDIANAPOLIS – As the IUPUI women's tennis team continues to battle with injures and short numbers, the Cleveland State Vikings swept the Jaguars on Saturday afternoon, 7-0.
The Vikings took the lead winning the doubles point, defeating
Christina Stankovic and
Sarah Lounsbury in the No. 2 doubles spot (6-3). The partnership of
Samantha Hayward and
Meghan Bernard were tied with Cleveland State at 5-5 when the match went unfinished.
Cleveland State swept the singles competition to seal the 7-0 victory. IUPUI had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match giving the Vikings a head start. Stankovic fell at the No. 1 spot (6-4, 6-4), Bernard fell at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-3) and Lounsbury fell at the No. 3 spot (6-0, 6-2). Hayward took her match to three sets but ultimately fell (5-7, 6-4, 10-7) and
Marta Krakowski fell at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-0).
The Jags host Youngstown State tomorrow (Sunday, April 10) at 11:00 AM.
