BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IUPUI women's golf team will head to Bloomington to compete in the two-day, 10-team Indiana Invitational at IU's Pfau Golf Course this weekend. Play is slated for 36 holes on Saturday (Apr. 9) and a final round on Sunday (Apr. 10).
The format will be 6-count-4, allowing head coach
Jamie Broce an opportunity to get a look at an additional player as the season hits the homestretch. The Jaguars have been strong all season long, collecting four runner-up finishes and a 304.47 team scoring average. Fifth-year senior
Amelie Svejda has been brilliant at the top of the Jaguars' lineup with four top-10 finishes and a 75.00 scoring average. Behind her,
Kara Blair (76.58) and
Annaliese Fox (77.50) have also earned multiple top-10 finishes while Fox is a two-time Horizon League Player of the Week this spring.
QUOTABLE: "Today played very tough. We had a constant wind of 30 miles per hour, which made the course play super harder. During my first round today, I couldn't quite find a good rhythm and I didn't give myself and good birdie chances. In my second round, I had three bad holes, but gave myself some good birdie chances to make up for it," Svejda said after finishing 20th overall at the Bama Beach Bash with a score of 230 (77-78-75).
FORMAT: Scoring will be 6-count-4 with two rounds on Saturday (Apr. 9) and a final round on Sunday (Apr. 10). Play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. day.
THE COURSE: Pfau Golf Course is set to play par-71 and 6,133 yards this weekend. Opened in 2020, the Pfau Course was built on the same 265-acres occupied previously by the IU Championship Golf Course, the original Par-3 course, and the IU Cross Country Course since the 1950s.
THE FIELD: The 10-team field will consist of Augusta, IUPUI, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Purdue, Toledo, UAB and Wisconsin.
RANKINGS: IUPUI enters the week ranked No. 163 by Golfstat and No. 182 by Golfweek.
