ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Senior
Alex Jochim won the No. 1 singles match to seal the 4-2 victory over No. 2 Cleveland State sending the Jags to the Horizon League Tournament Finals.
Cleveland State took the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead, but the Jags quickly recovered. The Vikings had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match evening the score at 1-1.
Freshman
Kamil Kozerski battled to win the No. 2 singles match in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, to give IUPUI the lead, 2-1.
Sean Bailey then fell in the No. 3 singles spot, 4-6, 6-7, to even the match at 2-2.
At the No. 4 spot,
Colton Morehart defeated Cleveland State's Juandedios Abboud in two sets, 6-3, 7-5, to retake the lead for the Jags, 3-2. Jochim then sealed the 4-2 victory for IUPUI with a three-set win in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
IUPUI will now face No. 1 Youngstown State in the championship round of the Horizon League Tournament tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
