JAGS EARN RUNNER-UP TITLE IN #HLTENNIS TOURNAMENT

IUPUI fell short to No. 1 Youngstown State, 4-0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The IUPUI men's tennis team fell short to No. 1 Youngstown State, 4-0, in the Horizon League Championship match on Sunday afternoon. The Jags closed out their season in the runner-up spot.
 
The Penguins took the early lead winning the doubles point, defeating the Jags in No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Blessing Benibo and Colton Morehart fell at No. 2 singles, 6-4, while Sean Bailey and Kamil Kozerski lost in the No. 3 position, 7-5. Alex Jochim and Emil Jankowski kept the Jags close with a win at No. 1 singles, 7-5, but ultimately Youngstown State took the 1-0 lead.
 
Going into singles play the Penguins needed three singles points to seal the win. Bailey fell at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4, while Jankowski fell at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Youngstown State sealed the win with a victory at No. 6 singles. Benibo lost at N0. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
 
The No. 1, 2 and 4 singles matches with Jochim, Kozerski and Morehart all went unfinished.
 
IUPUI closes out the 2021-22 season 8-19 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
