YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sophomore
Madison Bryant threw her first collegiate no-hitter and
Morgan Gilbert drove in the winning run to seal the series win over Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon, 1-0.
In the top of the second inning, the Jags scored the sole run of the game taking the 1-0 lead.
Jordan Barnes reached base on a walk and
Lauren Youngblood entered the game to run for Barnes. With two outs and Youngblood on second base, Gilbert tripled to right center to drive in the winning run, 1-0.
The Jags collected three hits in the win. Gilbert tripled,
Maicey Bedrick doubled and
Mackenzie Myars collected a single.
Bryant (W, 4-13) shut down the Penguins throwing a complete game no-hitter with seven strikeouts and only three walks.
With the win, the Jaguars earn the series win over the Penguins, two games to one. IUPUI is now 7-24 overall and 5-4 in conference. They return to Indy to face Purdue Fort Wayne in a single game on Friday (April 8) at 3:00 PM and a doubleheader on Saturday (April 9) starting at 1:00 PM.
