INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team opened their three-game series with Northern Kentucky on Friday afternoon with a 10-1 loss. The Jags took an early 1-0 lead, but the Norse rallied for 10 runs to seal the win.
IUPUI (9-30, 6-10 HL) took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with one run on one hit.
Kasie Keyes led the inning off with a double to left center.
Jaida Speth moved Keyes to third with a sacrifice bunt. Keyes scored after
Rachael Gregory hit a groundball to first base to take the lead.
In the top of the fifth inning Northern Kentucky (19-24, 8-11 HL) scored three runs on three hits to take the lead over the Jags. They added insurance runs in the top of the sixth and seventh frames. The Norse scored one run in the sixth on one hit and six runs in the top of the seventh to seal the 10-1 win.

Morgan Gilbert and Keyes recorded the five hits for IUPUI.
Madison Bryant (L, 4-18) took the loss on the mound for the Jags giving up three runs on six hits with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.
The Jags continue the three-game series with NKU tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
