MILWAUKEE – The IUPUI women's tennis team fell in the opening day of Horizon League play to Milwaukee, 6-1.
Samantha Hayward earned the sole point for the Jags in the No. 4 singles spot.
The Panthers took the early lead with a sweep of the doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Hayward and
Meghan Bernard fell at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, while the partnership of
Christina Stankovic and
Sarah Lounsbury lost in the No. 2 spot, 6-3.
Milwaukee took five out of the six singles matches to seal the 6-1 victory. Hayward earned the Jaguar's point at No. 4 singles in a hard-fought three sets (6-4, 3-6, 10-6).
Stankovic fell at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-3), Bernard dropped the No. 2 singles match (6-3, 7-5), Lounsbury lost at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1) and
Marta Krakowski fell at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-2). The Jags had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match due once again due to injuries.
The IUPUI women's tennis team is now 2-14 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Jags face conference foe UIC tomorrow (Sunday, April 3) at 2:00 PM.
