INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's tennis team secured the doubles point at Butler on Wednesday evening (Mar. 30) but was unable to carry the momentum over to singles play as the Jaguars fell to the Bulldogs, 6-1. Limited to just five players, the short-handed Jags earned a hard fought doubles point before being swept in singles. 

Needing both doubles matches for the day's first point, IUPUI (2-13) rallied in both matches as Sarah Lounsbury and Christina Stankovic won at No. 2 doubles, 7-5, setting the stage for a big finish at No. 1 singles. Ultimately, Meghan Bernard and Samantha Hayward outlasted the Butler tandem of Delaney Schurhamer and Logan White in a tiebreaker to win 7-6 (7-4). 

However, singles play went in the favor of Butler (7-12) as the hosts won all five contests in straight sets. 

Bernard lost 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Hayward was defeated 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Stankovic was defeated at the top spot and Lounsbury fell at No. 3 singles. Marta Krakowski was also unsuccessful in her match at No. 5 singles. 

IUPUI will now turn attention to Horizon League play as the Jaguars will trek to Milwaukee to face the Panthers on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
