INDIANAPOLIS –
The IUPUI women's tennis team defeated Western Illinois on Friday afternoon, 5-2, inside West Indy Racquet Club. Four Jags earned singles points and IUPUI took the doubles point.
IUPUI started the match off with back-to-back doubles wins to earn the doubles point.
Meghan Bernard and
Samantha Hayward got the Jags halfway there with a 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. The partnership of
Christina Stankovic and
Sarah Lounsbury finished the doubles point off with a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 doubles spot.
Stankovic earned a dominant No. 1 singles win in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Bernard was in the No. 2 singles spot and earned the point in two sets, 6-1, 6-0. Lounsbury in the No. 3 spot earned the win in two sets with a hard-fought second set, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
Marta Krakowski earned the No. 5 singles point in straight sets, 6-2, 6-5.
The Jags are now 2-12 and will face the Bulldogs at Butler on Wednesday (March 30) starting at 4:00 PM.
