INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IUPUI women's basketball standout, Macee Williams has been named one of only ten semifinalists for the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats for her continuous stellar performance on the court.
 
The Becky Hammon Award recognizes the nation's best mid-major player every year. Becky Hammon was a three-time All-American during her career at Colorado State and went on to be named a six-time All-Star and two-time All-WNBA First Team honoree during her time in the WNBA. She became the second female coach in the NBA and is now the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces.
 
As one of the ten athletes to be selected, Williams is the only Horizon League women's basketball athlete named a semifinalist and is considered one of the best athletes in #HLWBB history, earning Horizon League Player of the Year three years in a row. She is the all-time leader in Player of the Week awards with three awards just this season with the most recent coming on February 7.  
 
The graduate student leads the Jaguars, averaging a double-double per game with 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds. She also averages 1.5 steals and 2.1 assists per game. Williams totaled 17 points and seven rebounds in the Jaguars' upset bid at Michigan on Nov. 9 to start the season. Then she helped lead IUPUI to their first win over a ranked opponent on Dec. 21 when the Jags defeated Iowa with 19 points and seven rebounds. She scored a season-high 27 points at conference foe Milwaukee on February 17. Williams has collected ten double-doubles this season in 21 games played.

As a leader on the women's basketball team, Williams is IUPUI's all-time leader in points with 2,235 and took over as the all-time leader in rebounds on February 6. Williams totaled a season-high 18 rebounds to earn the title of all-time leader in rebounds and continues to extend her lead with a total of 1,216.
 
Five finalists will be named in March then the winner of the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year will be announced during the Final Four in late March.
