GREEN BAY, Wisc. – The IUPUI Jaguars fell to Green Bay on Saturday afternoon, 71-56, on the road, snapping their 14-game win streak. Sophomore transfer
Rachel Kent scored a season-high 21 points with five rebounds while
Macee Williams added 18 points and nine rebounds.
"Sometimes it's just not your night. You have to give Green Bay credit because they shot the ball really well and forced us into a very low percentage offensively," said head coach
Austin Parkinson. "I thought
Rachel Kent was very aggressive today and shot the ball really well."
IUPUI and Green Bay we're evenly matched after the first quarter with 19 points each, but the Phoenix turned up their offense to outscore the Jags in the second quarter 13-6. Despite efforts from the Jaguars, Green Bay capitalized on their lead with 21 points in the fourth quarter compared to IUPUI's 15.
The Phoenix defense held the Jaguar offense to 31.6 percent (18-of-57) from the floor and just 26.9 percent (7-of-26) behind the arc while Green Bay shot 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the floor. The Jags outrebounded the Phoenix 38 to 33.
Destiny Perkins added six points with two rebounds and two assists while
Rachel McLimore totaled five points with four rebounds and two assists.
Madison Wise,
Anna Mortag and
Morgan Allen added two points each.
"I'm proud of our players as we won 14 straight games and really only have two losses in conference play. Now we have to go home and learn from it so we can be better down the stretch."
The Jaguars will return home for the last two games of the regular season. The first on Thursday, Feb. 24 against Youngstown State at 6:00 pm. IUPUI then faces Robert Morris on Saturday, Feb. 26 for senior night with tip off at 2:00 pm.
